The first Test between Bangladesh and South Africa in Chittagong is highly likely to end as a draw after the fourth day was washed out due to persistent rain.

South Africa’s opening pair of Stiaan van Zyl and Dean Elgar were within touching distance of wiping away Bangladesh’s lead at the end of the third day. But, they were unable to make further inroads as not a single ball was bowled on Friday.

With only one day remaining, South Africa are likely to use it to gain some much-needed batting practice, especially after their less than impressive performance with the bat in the first innings.

Should that happen, South Africa pace bowler Dale Steyn will remain stranded on 399 Test wickets and will have to wait until the second Test in Dhaka next week to become the 13th member of the illustrious 400-wicket club.

South Africa ended day four on 61/0 and will continue batting tomorrow at 10:00 local time or 04:00 GMT.
