Australia opener Aaron Finch was rushed to hospital on Monday after he was struck in the chest while representing Yorkshire’s second XI.

The incident occurred when Finch attempted to play a pull shot off the bowling of Worcestershire second XI pace bowler Chris Russell.

While Finch did not need any assistance leaving the pitch, he looked to be in pain and was later whisked away to hospital after he began spitting up blood.

Finch underwent numerous tests and scans at the hospital, but Yorkshire have played down the severity of his injury as he was allowed to leave the hospital the very same day.

But, it has been announced that the results of Finch’s tests and scans will not be available until Thursday.

In the meantime, a club spokesperson has confirmed that Finch will take no further part in the game so that he can rest and recuperate.
