England captain Eoin Morgan is already under immense pressure for his side’s poor performance in the World Cup and his own batting as well, but he has now been caught up in a controversy involving him not singing the national anthem.

Many people have criticised Morgan for remaining silent instead of singing “God Save the Queen” with pure passion.

Responding to the criticism, Morgan said: “It’s pretty simple. I’ve never sung the national anthem whether I’ve played for Ireland or England. It doesn’t make me any less proud to be an English cricketer. I’m extremely proud to be in the position I am in and privileged to be captain of a World Cup side.”

When asked to explain why he doesn’t sing the national anthem, Morgan said: “It’s a long story. It’s a personal thing.”
