Scotland captain Preston Mommsen has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during his side’s one-wicket loss to Scotland.

The rest of the Scotland team were each docked 10 per cent of their match fee.

“Scotland has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during its Pool A match against Afghanistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at Dunedin on Thursday,” an International Cricket Council (ICC) statement said. “David Boon of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fine after Preston Mommsen’s side was ruled to be one over short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

“Mommsen pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.”

If Mommsen is found guilty of another over-rate offence, he will be banned for one match.
