India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan has landed himself in hot water after he slapped a spectator while representing Baroda in a Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir in Vadodara.

Pathan claims that the spectator had been making “indecent comments” throughout the match.

Baroda Cricket Association secretary Snehal Parikh confirmed this and added that the spectator also made “indecent comments” towards other players as well.

“This youngster had been shouting and passing indecent comments against Pathan and other players, such as Ambati Rayudu, when they were batting,” Parikh said. “Pathan was in no mood to tolerate such behaviour. Thus, after he got out, he called that youngster inside the dressing room and allegedly slapped him twice.”

According to Anshuman Gaekwad, who is another Baroda Cricket Association secretary, the matter was “amicably resolved” after a family member of the spectator apologised on his behalf.

However, Parikh made it clear that a report about the incident will be sent to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
