The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced that pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been upgraded from a Grade B to a Grade A contract for the 2014-15 season.
Kumar’s promotion comes after he was one of the standout performers during India’s disastrous tour of England. During that series, which India lost 3-1, Kumar scored 247 runs at an average of 27.44 and took 19 wickets at an average of 26.63.
It has also been announced that Mohammed Shami, Ambati Rayudu and Ajinkya Rahane have been promoted from Grade C to Grade B contracts, while Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh Karthik and Jaydev Unadkat have been dropped from the list of contracted players.
Varun Aaron, Stuart Binny, Pankaj Singh, Dhawal Kulkarni, Parvez Rasool, Akshar Patel, Robin Uthappa, Manoj Tiwary, Karn Sharma, Sanju Samson, Kuldeep Yadav and Lokesh Rahul all did not possess a central contract last year, but have been given Grade C contracts this time round.
