Narayanaswami Srinivasan has called on India’s Supreme Court to reinstate him as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the Mudgal report found him not guilty of betting and match-fixing.

Srinivasan was told to step down as BCCI president when the investigation into the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) corruption scandal began.

“Since the investigation by the panel is over and there is nothing incriminating against me, I must be allowed to take over as BCCI president,” Srinivasan said.

As managing director of India Cements, who own the Chennai Super Kings, Srinivasan also urged the Supreme Court not to terminate the IPL franchise.

However, the franchise could still be dissolved since Gurunath Meiyappan, who is a Chennai Super Kings official and Srinivasan’s son-in-law, was found guilty of betting by the Mudgal report.

“Cancellation of CSK franchise will result in serious consequences as Chennai is the most popular team in IPL and its players enjoy huge popularity,” India Cements said via a statement.
