Essex’s one-day captain, Ryan ten Doeschate, has agreed to sign a new two-year deal, which will keep him with the club until the end of the 2016 county season.

Ten Doeschate, who used to play for Holland, made his debut for Essex in 2003 and has been with the club ever since.

In last year’s county season, he led the club to the quarter-finals of the Royal London One-Day Cup when he was appointed as one-day captain.

“Ryan has been a fantastic servant for Essex County Cricket Club, and we are very pleased he has decided to extend his time here,” Essex head coach Paul Grayson told the club’s website. “He is still a key player for us in all three formats, and his captaincy of the one-day team last season was excellent.”
