Former Afghanistan coach Kabir Khan has been appointed as Habib Bank Limited’s new head coach on a one-year contract ahead of Pakistan’s new domestic season.
Khan, who represented Habib Bank Limited for nearly a decade, recently resigned as Afghanistan’s head coach, stating that his family life suffered as a result of the job.
“We have offered him a contract and he has accepted,” Abdul Raqeeb, Habib Bank Limited’s sports head, told ESPNcricinfo. “Having observed his international career with Afghanistan we are excited to get his services. He is a coach with a caliber who worked hard with developing the Afghanistan team to get them recognised in the world. It’s good to have him in our circuit and I am sure he will spur a new spirit in the team.”
Many national team players represent Habib Bank Limited, including Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, Ahmed Shehzad, Asad Shafiq and Abdur Rehman.
