Sri Lanka have dropped wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal and spinner Ajantha Mendis for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan, which gets underway on August 6 in Galle.

Chandimal lost his place in the side to 21-year-old Niroshan Dickwella during the second Test against South Africa in Colombo. As a result of his poor form with the bat, Chandimal has joined up with the Sri Lanka A squad in England.

Mendis was dropped after he failed to have a major impact during the second Test against South Africa.

Meanwhile, it was announced that pace bowler Nuwan Pradeep will return to the Test side after having recovered from an injury.

The pace duo of Shaminda Eranga and Suranga Lakmal have also been included in the side, but they will have to undergo a fitness test before the start of the series.
