The Supreme Court of India has released legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar from his interim role of president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

BCCI vice-president Shivlal Yadav will take over Gavaskar’s position since Narayanaswami Srinivasan is still exiled from the post due to an investigation into the match-fixing scandal in the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Gavaskar can now continue to fulfil his media commitments as he was not allowed to do so while he was in charge of the BCCI.
