Bravo played a vital role with both the bat and ball

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo scored 47 runs and took two wickets to help the Melbourne Renegades edge out the Adelaide Strikers in a one-run thriller at the Adelaide Oval.

Bravo was well supported by pace bowler Peter Siddle, who snapped up three wickets.

Renegades captain Ben Rohrer won the toss and chose to bat first.

His decision to do so paid off as the Renegades’ opening pair of Daniel Harris and Michael Hill put together a 63-run partnership before Hill was caught by Alex Hales at long-off off the bowling of Jon Holland for 30.

Harris ended up making 31 before he was caught by Nathan Reardon at long-off off the bowling of Holland.

Bravo and Rohrer stabilised the innings with a 71-run partnership before Bravo was caught by Michael Neser at deep midwicket off the bowling of Shaun Tait.

Bravo’s fantastic knock of 47 came off 33 balls and included one boundary and four sixes.

Rohrer managed to make 30 before he was caught by Holland at midwicket off the bowling of Tait.

Following Rohrer’s dismissal, the Renegades’ lower order collapsed.

The Renegades eventually finished on 155/6 off their 20 overs.

Tait, Holland and Kane Richardson picked up two wickets apiece.

Chasing 156 to win, the Strikers got off to a poor start as opening batsman Michael Klinger was caught by Bravo at point off the bowling of Siddle for only one run.

Jono Dean made a quickfire 28 before he was given out lbw off the bowling of Muttiah Muralitharan.

Reardon only made 16 runs before he was caught behind off the bowling of Siddle.

Travid Head failed to have an impact with the bat as he was given out lbw off the bowling of Muralitharan for seven.

Hales ended up making 32 off 25 balls, which included one boundary and two sixes, before he was caught by Nathan Rimmington at point off the bowling of Bravo.

Johan Botha failed to trouble the scorers as he was given out lbw off the bowling of Bravo.

Wicketkeeper Tim Ludeman scored 20 runs before he was caught by Hill at midwicket off the bowling of Siddle.

However, Bravo proved to be the hero at the end of the match as he restricted the Strikers to 12 runs off the final over when they needed 14 to win.

Siddle was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Bravo and Muralitharan chipped in with two wickets apiece.
