A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Kings XI Punjab appoint Darren Lehmann as new head coach

Lehmann is looking forward to teaming up with Gilchrist once again

The Kings XI Punjab have appointed former Australia batsman Darren Lehmann as their new head coach for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which gets underway on April 3.

Lehmann previously coached the recently terminated Deccan Chargers franchise and even played for the Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural edition of the Twenty20 tournament in 2008.

Lehmann replaces his fellow countryman Adam Gilchrist, who was the coach and captain of the Kings XI Punjab last season.

“I’m geared up for the challenges it brings and will always encourage our team to be an entertaining and aggressive brand that people love to watch and associate with,” Lehmann said. “I’m also looking forward to working with Adam Gilchrist again and help all the players grow on and off the field.”

The former Australian batsman also coaches Queensland and the Brisbane Heat during the Big Bash League (BBL).
