A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Ashok Dinda always shows a lot of ‘heart’, says Sunil Gavaskar

Dinda pours his “heart” and soul into every delivery he bowls

Former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar has announced that pace bowler Ashok Dinda always shows a lot of “heart” and effort whenever given the chance to bowl.

Gavaskar credited Dinda for continuously varying his deliveries when bowling, stating that it made a lot of batsmen very confused and stemmed the flow of runs the opposition scored.

“Full credit to him,” Gavaskar said. “He mixed it up and used the slower one. It’s only at the initial stages with the new ball that he gives the batsman a bit of room around the off-stump and he gets taken for runs. If he can control that, then he would be less expensive. But certainly, he showed good heart. Dinda has learnt from his previous matches and that is what cricket is all about.”

Talking about India big-hitter Yuvraj Singh, Gavaskar noted that his form since returning had been outstanding, but added that there were still some areas he could make improvements on as well.

“He does hit them a fair distance but remember Chris Gayle hit them even further,” Gavaskar said. ” I think he (Yuvraj) is just a little bit lazy when it comes to his footwork, doesn’t get to the pitch of the ball and allows the ball the sneak in between bat and pad.”
