A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Alastair Cook will definitely score more centuries than any other England batsman, says Kevin Pietersen

Pietersen feels as if Cook can score centuries at will

England batsman Kevin Pietersen believes that Test captain Alastair Cook will score more centuries than any other English batsman after his stellar performance during the recently concluded four-Test series against India.

Cook scored three centuries during his first Test series as captain and even ended England’s 28-year losing streak in India after leading his squad to a 2-1 victory.

The England captain now has 23 Test centuries and Pietersen sees that number going nowhere but up.

“Alastair Cook will comfortably surpass any hundred [total] that anybody else who plays for England [gets],” the BBC quoted Pietersen as saying. “He is a super player, he is a super guy. He should go on to score thousands and thousands of more runs.

“Cook played beautifully and never made one mistake until he finally got out. Cook plays the way I like to see an opening batsman play: he seals one end, sees the bowlers off and makes a platform for the middle order.”

Pietersen also noted that since Cook was still only 27, he still had a long career ahead of him and could go on to score a record-breaking number of Test centuries.

“He should be, he definitely should,” Pietersen said. “He’s only 27. He’s a young pup, he is fit. He has a great head. He is very calm and nobody should beat him.”

The South African-born Pietersen also stated that he was pleased with the century and two half-centuries he managed to score throughout the Test series.

“It is really nice to get a hundred for England,” Pietersen added. “It is a great feeling, any Test match hundred that you end up being on the winning side, is a lot better than being on the losing side.”
