A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Cheteshwar Pujara is now a ‘complete Test batsman’, says Sunil Gavaskar

Gavaskar believes Pujara will continue making big scores if he remains calm and composed

Legendary India batsman Sunil Gavaskar has announced that Cheteshwar Pujara has become “a complete Test batsman” after scoring a double hundred during the first Test against England at Ahmedabad and following it up with a century in the second Test at Mumbai.

Gavaskar noted that he was especially impressed by Pujara’s calm demeanour and temperament whenever he walked out to bat.

“The way he build up his innings shows that his temperament is terrific ans it is temperament which separates men from boys,” Gavaskar said during an exclusive interview with NDTV. “He’s a terrific player. He has shown that he is a complete Test batsman. After the Ahmedabad Test, he has shown his mettle and he’ll be able to do it in abroad as well.”

The former India great also stated that batsmen always find it difficult to play their strokes in Mumbai since it is a paradise for spinners.

“If in two Test matches it happens, you start to think what’s going wrong,” Gavaskar added. “It’s not as if they have failed. Look Sehwag is coming into this match with a hundred. It’s difficult wicket to bat, there was a lot of spin which is expected in Mumbai.”
