A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: We must change our mindset from T20 to Test cricket, says Alviro Petersen

Petersen wants the entire squad to be mentally prepared before the start of the first Test

South Africa opening batsman Alviro Petersen has announced that it is key for the entire team to change their mindset from the shortest format of the game to the longest ahead of the three-Test series against Australia.

Petersen was just one of many South African players to take part in the recently concluded Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) and noted that everyone had started preparing for the first Test at Brisbane.

The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Petersen as saying: “It’s just mindset – it’s all about getting in the right frame of mind again for Test cricket. (It’s about) making sure the duration comes into play and making sure that you bat for a long period of time. (You need to) change the mindset upstairs, I think it’s important that you stick to your disciplines especially up front and know where you have to play, what sort of areas you want to score in. You definitely put away (certain shots).”
