Asif is willing to do anything to clear his name
Disgraced Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Asif has once again lashed out at the International Cricket Council (ICC) for handing him a five-year ban after being found guilty of match-fixing.
Asif has handed in a plea of innocence to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and the hearing is scheduled to take place in February 2013.
In November 2011 Asif was handed a one year prison sentence for his role in a match-fixing scandal that rocked the cricketing world to its core, but the pace bowler only ended up serving half his term before being released.
“The ICC was not fair to me. They imposed a ban on me even before my case went to trial, I will fight on to clear my name as the charges against me are wrong,” Asif said.
Two other Pakistan players, Salman Butt and Mohammad Aamir, also received prison sentences and five-year bans from the ICC.
Asif noted that he would be writing a book, in which it would reveal how he was unfairly accused.
“I am also planning on writing a book in which I will reveal a lot of things,” Asif said.
