A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Here I come green top Gabba, says Vernon Philander

Philander has already established himself as one of the most lethal pace bowlers in cricket today

South Africa pace maestro Vernon Philander has announced that he cannot wait to bowl on a green top at the Gabba in Brisbane ahead of the national team’s three-Test series against Australia.

The green top is expected to offer loads of pace and bounce for the seam bowlers, which is exactly the way Philander likes it.

Telegraph.com.au quoted Philander as saying: “Obviously there is a bit of pace and bounce around here, so it will be great. I am looking forward it.”

Just under a year since making his international debut, Philander has already taken 63 Test wickets at an outstanding average of 15.96.

Philander made his Test debut against Australia in November last year, and took eight wickets in the first Test, with five of them coming in the second innings, as Australia crumbled to a dismal 47 all out.
