A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Justin Langer impressed with Glenn Maxwell’s batting technique

Maxwell has already made a name for himself

Australia batting coach Justin Langer has revealed that he was extremely impressed with middle order batsman Glenn Maxwell’s performance throughout the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20.

Maxwell, nicknamed the ‘Big Show’ due to his ability of being able to change a game in a matter of minutes, was actually a surprise pick for Australia, and many fans were keen to see what he could produce at the international level.

Maxwell put up some great performances during the World Twenty20 and earned a lot of respect from his team-mates, the fans, and even Langer as well.

The Herald Sun quoted Langer as saying: “There’s a lot of rah rah about Glenn Maxwell and that he’s a very confident sort of guy, but fundamentally he’s got a very, very good technique, he plays with a straight bat, he’s got very fast hands and he’s quite a student of the game.”

Maxwell made his international debut against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates, and impressed everyone right away as he smashed 56 runs from 38 balls to lead the Australians to victory in the third ODI.

“With youth comes fearlessness often and he seems to have that but what I love about him is his temperament. People talk about him smacking them out of the park but that innings of 56 not out, he played like he had played 150 games, he worked out the situation. He smacked a six and then laid back and glided a four, that’s unbelievable under that sort of pressure. It was a big game for Australia. He came in and his temperament was excellent, for a bloke who was more of a show that people were talking about he actually had real steel about him, he was calm. The few times I’d seen him before maybe his tempo was a bit rushed. But when I saw him under pressure I was very impressed with that,” Langer added.
