Pietersen is hoping to get his career back on track through talks with Strauss and the ECB

According to recent reports, England batsman Kevin Pietersen may have sent derogatory text messages about his team-mates to South African players earlier than initially thought.

Pietersen’s close friendship with many of the South African players is no surprise to anyone since the batsman himself was born in South Africa.

When Pietersen meets with England Test captain Andrew Strauss and some management officials from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) later this week, he will have to admit if the ongoing speculation about him sending the derogatory text messages during the first Test at The Oval are true.

Initially, Pietersen was thought to have sent the text messages to South African pace bowler Dale Steyn and wicketkeeper AB de Villiers during the second Test at Headingley, which led to him being dropped for the final Test at Lord’s.

Pietersen will be expected to reveal everything to captain Strauss if he is to have any chance of being able to represent England in Test cricket again.

Pietersen was also dropped for the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20 due to lack of commitment and shocking retirement from limited overs cricket.

The date of countries announcing their World Twenty20 teams was delayed after a majority of them requested for more time, including England, who did not want the selection process to distract their players during the final Test against South Africa at Lord’s.

According to The Telegraph, the Professional Cricketers’ Association will be playing a role is hosting talks between Pietersen, captain Strauss and ECB management officials.
