A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Darren Sammy praises Sunil Narine for ‘unplayable’ deliveries and consistency

Narine’s ability to spin the ball both ways makes him very difficult to play

West Indies captain Darren Sammy has praised spin bowler Sunil Narine for his outstanding deliveries and consistency throughout the recent ODI series against New Zealand, which the West Indies won 4-1.

Sammy especially dwelled on the fact that Narine’s career best bowling of 27 runs for five wickets in the final ODI played an instrumental role in helping the West Indies win by 20 runs.

“We all know Sunil is a champion and when we are playing in our conditions he is unplayable, especially when we post a good total knowing that we are going to get 60 balls from him. I know what he is going to do,” Sammy said.

Narine’s figures in the final ODI is currently the best ever by a West Indian against New Zealand in an ODI, and also the best ODI figures at Warner Park, which is located in St Kitts.

Narine had a superb ODI series against New Zealand, as the spin maestro ended up with 13 wickets, at an average of 11.23, while maintaining an outstanding economy rate of just 2.92 runs per over.

“So any situation … you could call on him and is good to have somebody like that in your team, you can turn to him (Narine) any given time in the game and I know he will continue to do well for us and have a very successful career,” Sammy added.
