A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Adrian Barath wants to see West Indies become Test power once again

Barath still sees areas in which the West Indies must work on to become more dominant

West Indies opening batsman Adrian Barath had revealed that he hopes the West Indies can bring an end to their losing ways and establish themselves as a Test power in international cricket once again.

Barath, was extremely disappointed to see the team go down 2-0 in the Test series against England .

Out of their last 32 Tests, the West Indies have just won two, one against Pakistan and the other when they played Bangladesh, but have been defeated 16 times and drawn 14 times.

However, the West Indies are starting to put up more of a fight in their Test matches, and are proving to be more difficult to beat than before.

“The pride of West Indies cricket has been showing some signs of improvement, doing well for the last couple of months, it’s about getting a Test win, it’s definitely nothing impossible for us, we showed at Lord’s, where we got those early wickets. If we had carried on getting wickets, anything would have been possible,” Barath said.

However, many critics say that the West Indies still have a long way to go before they can be a threat in Test matches once again due to their constant top order batting collapses.

“Where we need to move forward in our cricket is carrying on for five days, that is what Test cricket is all about — it’s not a couple of hours; it’s over the course of five days. You have to be on the money every day, every hour, every over,” Barath said.
