A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Dhoni feels he should still be India’s captain

Dhoni has been criticised for his captaincy techniques in the past

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has announced that he will not speculate on who will be his successor as captain, but mentioned that if he were given a choice, he would choose himself.

Dhoni, was asked about who would be likely to succeed him as captain of the Indian team, but he refused to give an answer, stating that the decision was not his.

“It is not my choice … my choice would be me. As far as the contenders are concerned, there are many…we have Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli,” he said.

Virender Sehwag had been Dhoni’s vice-captain for a long period of time, before Gautam Gambhir was handed the vice-captaincy.

However, Sehwag was made the temporary captain of India when Dhoni was rested for an ODI series against the West Indies.

But, after his outstanding performance in the Asia Cup, Virat Kohli replaced Gambhir as vice-captain of the team.
