A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Umar Gul’s house raided by Pakistan Army

Gul’s brother was arrested along with two paramedics

Pakistan pace bowler Umar Gul’s house was raided by the Pakistan Army in Peshawar, where his brother was arrested on charges of harbouring a wanted militant.

According to The Express Tribune, Gul’s brother, Meraj was arrested along with two other men for protecting and sheltering the fast bowler’s uncle, Haji Daly, who is believed to be part of the banned Lashkar-e-Islam.

A local resident broke the news to The Express Tribune after commandos raided Gul’s house.

Two paramedics, who were only revealed as Younas and Shakil, were among those arrested and then transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to an official at the local police station, Haji Daly was injured in an operation launched by armed forces in Bara, which is part of the notorious Khyber tribal region, and then fled to Peshawar to stay with Meraj for several days before leaving the city.

“The injured man was brought to Hayatabad Medical Complex with two local paramedics who changed his bandages,” the official said.

According to reports, the two paramedics who were also arrested are employees of a maternity home which Gul’s family owns.

Members of Gul’s family refused to give any comment on the situation, but a cousin of the fast bowler confirmed that the raid had indeed happened, and that three people had been arrested.
