India have always had their doubts about the DRS while England feel it is beneficial to the game

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), asking them to implement the use of the DRS when the two nations clash against each other in a four-match Test series later this year.

According to a media report, the BCCI are not eager or optimistic about the use of the technology.

India, have repeatedly refused to use the DRS in international matches due to senior players questioning its accuracy and it was also not featured the last time the two teams met.

A report published in the Daily Telegraph stated that “the ECB has written to the Indian Board, asking for the implementation of the DRS during the Test series (beginning November 15).”

“But insiders at the ECB privately concede that attempts to persuade their Indian counterparts to employ it will be futile ahead of the Test series, which starts in Ahmedabad on November 15,” the report added.

The report further mentioned that the England players, especially Graeme Swann, believe that the system is beneficial to the sport.

“England believe the decision review system benefits their attack, particularly Graeme Swann,” the report said.

England, are viewing the upcoming series against India like an Ashes series, and will use it to improve their batting and bowling attack.

“Andy Flower acknowledged his team’s long break after the English summer last year could have contributed to their poor performances in the Emirates (against Pakistan). The itinerary for the India trip shows he is attempting to avoid a repeat of that mistake,” the report said.

Before heading to India to play their first warm-up match in Mumbai on October 30, the England team will spend three days in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Global Cricket Academy to get themselves fully fit and prepared for the series.
