A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Smith replaces Johnson on Mumbai roster

Smith will be replacing the injured Mitchell Johnson

West Indian all-rounder, Dwayne Smith has been signed by the Mumbai Indians as a replacement for the injured Mitchell Johnson.

The Australian pacer was supposed to play for Mumbai in this year’s tournament, but was ruled out after failing to sufficiently recover from a foot injury he picked up against South Africa in November last year.

Johnson, has not played for Australia since picking up the injury, although the cricket board have announced that they expect him to be fit in time for the upcoming ODI series in England.

Johnson, was bought by Mumbai during the IPL auction in February for a price of $300,000.

Smith, meanwhile went unsold during the auction with a base price of $100,000 before being picked up by the Indians.

Smith began his IPL career with Mumbai in 2008 before being bought by the Deccan Chargers in 2009.
