A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Pietersen calls Tendulkar the “greatest ever”

Pietersen believes Tendulkar is the best cricketer to have ever played the game

England batsman, Kevin Pietersen has called Sachin Tendulkar the “greatest ever” player to have ever played the game of cricket.

Pietersen, made his comments when visiting a university campus in Noida, where he also gave tips to young cricket hopefuls.

In the university auditorium, Pietersen said: “Sachin is a magnificent player. He is the greatest player that ever played. In Twenty20, anything can happen. It’s hard to predict a result but we will try to win two points.”

Pietersen, when asked about who his cricketing heroes were, said: “I don’t follow anybody. I grew up in South Africa and loved watcing Jonty Rhodes, Hansie Cronje. Other than that I liked Mark Waugh. There are a few people I enjoy watching play but I can’t be somebody else.”

During his visit, the England batsman was also asked about the differences between playing at Lord’s and the Ferozshah Kotla stadium in Delhi, and said: “Lord’s is traditional, English. There are knowledgeable people. At Kotla it is intense, loud. I have lot of respect for the crowd here. It’s loudest than any other (venue).”

Pietersen, also noted that India were very lucky to have batsmen such as Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid, to be playing alongside Tendulkar at the same time.

Pietersen, was extremely popular when playing with Rahul Dravid for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, before he moved to the Delhi Daredevils to team up with Virender Sehwag.

“Rahul is magnificent player. It is a privilege to have played with these players. India is lucky to have these great men. It’s great to play in Bangalore and Delhi,” Pietersen said.
