Yousuf is looking to make his international comeback in cricket after retiring in 2010

Former Pakistan captain, Mohammad Yousuf, has announced that he told the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), to ask for help from former players to bring international cricket back to the country.

Yousuf, who is currently training at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, since he is trying to make an international comeback, stated that he was extremely disappointed with the postponement of the Bangladesh tour.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Times, Yousuf said: “It is very disappointing because it has been three years since any international team came to Pakistan,” he said. “But the PCB should not give up hope and continue its efforts to invite teams to Pakistan.”

Yousuf, who last represented Pakistan in 2010, hoped the PCB would use former cricketers to revive the game in the country.

“The board must enlist the services of some leading former players and use them as cricket ambassadors to promote a soft image of Pakistan abroad,” he said.

He also noted that people in the country were hungry to see cricket brought back.

“We all want to see international teams playing again in Pakistan. We all need to work together to produce results,” he added.

Pakistan’s newly appointed coach, Dav Whatmore, also shared Yousuf’s disappointment at the postponement of the Bangladesh tour.

“I was looking forward to the series and wanted to see the teams play in Pakistan. But we just need to now focus and prepare for our coming assignments,” he said. “I have decided against going on vacations and instead will remain in Lahore to prepare the players for the coming tour to Sri Lanka in late May,” he said.

Yousuf’s view of the Bangladesh tour postponement was also echoed by former Pakistan captain, Aamir Sohail, who said: “The Bangladesh pull-out is really disappointing and sad for Pakistan cricket. Te board must now form a new team which can convince teams to play in the country.”
