A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: South Africa to include three uncapped players in one-off Twenty20

The one-off Twenty20 International will be dedicated to Kallis

South Africa have announced that three uncapped players are to be included in the squad when they face India in a one-off Twenty20 International.

Titans batsman Farhaan Behardien, along with Cape Cobras wicketkeeper, Dane Vilas, have got their first call-up into the South African squad, while, Francois du Plessis, who has represented South Africa in other formats of the game, will also be making his Twenty20 International debut.

All the players who are taking part in a test series against New Zealand, with the exception of Jacques Kallis, will be rested for the match against India.

Kallis, has been chosen to play because the match has been dedicated as a tribute to him.

Selection convener, Andrew Hudson, said: “We are leaving all the players out who are involved in the current Test match against New Zealand with the exception of Jacques Kallis, for whom there are special circumstances.”

With Kallis the only player out of the current test squad selected to play, the rest of the team, will be heading home for some much needed rest and relaxation.

“They will arrive back home two days before the start of the match, having travelled halfway across the world, and we don’t believe they will be in any condition to play an international game of cricket” Hudson said.

Johan Botha has been named Captain of the South Africa team that will host India for the one-off match, since usual ODI and Twenty20 International skipper AB de Villiers, along with Vice-Captain, Hashim Amla, are part of the test squad that will be sent home two days before the match is scheduled to take place.

Hudson, assured fans all over the world that South Africa will still have a strong side going into the match, saying: “We still have a very strong squad for this important match, including the bulk of the players who won the T20 international series in New Zealand.”
