Brad Haddin is returning home due to personal reasons

Australia’s Brad Haddin is returning home for personal reasons, just hours before the team is scheduled to face the West Indies in their first ODI at Kingstown.

Haddin, Australia’s premier wicketkeeper, has been in a bad run of form lately, and was dropped by the Australian selectors for the recent tri-series against India and Sri Lanka.

Chairman of the selectors, John Inverarity, issued a statement, saying: “We hope that Brad will be able to re-join the squad in the West Indies in the not too distant future.”

Haddin will be replaced by Matthew Wade, who secured his position in the Australian side after some outstanding batting and wicketkeeping performances during the tri-series.

According to Cricket Australia, Peter Nevill, a young upcoming wicketkeeper, will now be heading to the West Indies as a replacement.

However, Haddin, is expected to return for the first test against the West Indies at Barbados, despite being under pressure from Wade.

Inverarity, however, said that there was no guaranteed timeline for when Haddin would return to the side.

Australia’s tour of the Caribbean consists of five ODIs, two Twenty20 Internationals and three tests.
